Mrs. Adrienne Rose McNevin Haggerty, 94, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at the Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Haggerty was born in the Bronx, NY on September 29, 1920 and was the daughter of the late Joseph F. McNevin and Rose McGovern McNevin. She was a graduate of Villa Maria High School in Bronx, NY and received her BA in Human Resources from Notre Dame in Staten Island, NY. On October 12, 1941, she married Gilbert M. Haggerty, who preceded her in death on January 10, 1999. Mrs. Haggerty was a retired from the City of New York where she worked in human relations. She also worked as the unit clerk at St. Vincent's Hospital in Staten Island and Community Memorial Hospital in Toms River, NJ. She was a member of the maternal order of Sisters of Mary St. Teresa in Staten Island, as well as an organizer for the Mardi Gras Ball for Cerebral Palsy Fund Raiser Organization in Staten Island. Mrs. Haggerty was a member of St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church. She had many cousins and in 2000, started family reunions as well as had Christmas parties for her grandchildren, family, and friends. She was adored and loved by all who knew her and she will be deeply missed. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Glieden. Mrs. Haggerty is survived by two sons, Gilbert Haggerty and Joseph Haggerty and one daughter, Maryrose Haggerty. She is also survived by six granddaughters, Alisia Glieden Lane (John), Stephanie Srackangast (Tim), Jenna Haggerty, Cori Haggerty, Danielle Cummings, and Nicole Garcia (Mizel) along with three grandsons, Thomas "TJ" Glieden (Jennifer), Jon Waddell (Liz) and Michael Haggerty. She is further survived by 10 great grandchildren. A memorial service honoring Adrienne Rose Haggerty will be conducted at 11:00 am Monday, February 23, 2015, at St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church with Rev. Father Thomas Kessler officiating. There will also be memorial service held at St. Pius Catholic Church in Forked River, NJ on March 6, 2015 at 11:30 am. Burial will follow in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
