Annie Wah Briggs, 68, of Statesville, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born November 27, 1944 in Liberia, West Africa and was the daughter of the late Lewis Wah and Tiedi Martha Kumah Wah.
Mrs. Briggs was a self employed day care operator and was a member of Washington Temple Cogic. She was married to Franklin David Briggs in 1965, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by a son, Franklin Musu Briggs, of Statesville, a daughter, Ernestine Briggs-King (Jolyon), of Durham, three grandsons, Rayshawn Whitford, Joseph King II and Jonathan King. She is also survived by a sister, Nora Wah Kwarbo, of Liberia, West Africa and a niece, Akma Captan, of Lawrenceville, GA.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 PM Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Abraham Brown and Bishop James Mauney officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at Nicholson Funeral Home.
