Lou Arrington

Mrs. Louada R. Brooks Arrington, 86, of Statesville, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Carillon Assisted Living in Salisbury, NC

Mrs. Arrington was born August 2, 1926 in Thomasville, NC and was the daughter of the late Herman Calvin and Glenna Mae Morton Brooks.  She was a graduate of Davidson County schools and Phifer College. 

In 1954, she married Sam M. Arrington, who preceded her in death on December 5, 2003.

Mrs. Arrington was a homemaker.  She also served as a teacher’s aide at N.B. Mills School and volunteered as a pink lady with Iredell Memorial Hospital.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Phil Arrington (Nina) of Statesville, and three daughters, Barbara Kociolek (John) of Orlando, FL, Glenda Dyson (Barry) of Salisbury and Laura Arrington of Statesville.  She is also survived by six grandsons, 2nd Lt. Cameron Spencer, Travis Spencer, Davis Spencer, Kevin Arrington and Hayden Arrington and Nicholas Kociolek along with one granddaughter, Lauren Kociolek.

A memorial service for Mrs. Arrington will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 29, 2013 at Carillon Assisted Living in Salisbury.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 4, 2013 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. J.B. Parker officiating.  The family will visit with friends from 10:00 until 11:00 am at the funeral home.  A private family interment will follow the service.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either Alzheimer’s Association or to Hospice of Rowan County, 720 Grove St., Salisbury, NC 28144.
