Leon Massey

Grover Leon Massey, 85, of Statesville, passed away Friday, August 17, 2012. He was born August 26, 1926 in Iredell County to the late Grover Allison Massey and Luna Summers Massey.

Mr. Massey attended Iredell County Schools and on November 19, 1945 he married Faydean S. Massey in South Carolina.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Hoyte Massey, William Massey and one sister Pauline Sprinkle Martin.

In addition to his wife he is also survived by two sons Ronnie Massey (Sonna), of Harmony and Bobby Massey (Carol), of Statesville, a daughter Pamela M. Nicholson (Don), of Hiddenite. He is further survived by three sisters, Emalois Icenhour, Betty Levan and Phyllis Shoemaker, all of Statesville.

A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday, August 20, 2012 at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Otis Johnson and Rev. Sherman Barlow officiating. Burial will follow in Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:30 until 8:30 PM at the funeral home.
