Vivian Louise Johnson, 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at Gordon Hospice Center in Statesville, NC after a long courageous battle with lung disease. She was born Vivian Louise Cook on December 13, 1928 in Iredell County, NC and was the daughter of the late James Melvin Cook and Emma Travis Cook. She and her husband, Robert J. Johnson, and children moved from North Carolina to Florida in 1964 residing in Orlando the past 47 years.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Robert J. Johnson. Children: Mike Johnson (wife Darlene), Tallahassee, FL, Dennis Johnson (wife Debbie), Statesville, NC, Teresa Mann (husband Al), Sorrento, FL, Kimberly Danforth, Winter Garden, FL, and Cory Johnson, Statesville, NC. Grandchildren: Justin Johnson (wife Brandi), Hanover, WV, Dana Cardenas (husband James), Charlotte, NC, Monica Mann, De Berry, TX, Erin Mann, Clermont, FL, Alissa Danforth, Winter Garden, FL, Brandon Johnson, Statesville, NC Andrew Johnson, Statesville, NC, and 3 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Harold Cook (wife Sue), 2 sister-in-laws Dorothy Shew (husband Glenn) and Rachel Laymon (husband Joe). She was preceded in death by brothers, Charlie Cook, Walter Cook, Willie Cook, Glenn Cook and Clyde Cook.
Louise enjoyed visits from her children and grandchildren and spending time with her husband and friends. She was a great homemaker and loved to cook large meals for her family and friends. She especially enjoyed baking delicious pies and cakes. She also enjoyed bowling, spending time at the beach and working with flowers around her home. She will be greatly missed and sorely remembered by her family and friends.
Louise was of the Baptist Faith and a member of The First Baptist Church of Central Florida in Orlando.
Visitation with the family will take place at Nicholson Funeral Home, 135 East Front Street, Statesville, NC, Tuesday evening, July 17, 2012, from 6:30 – 8:00 PM. Funeral services are Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Union Chapel Baptist Church 213 Gays Chapel Road, Statesville, NC with Pastor William Wease officiating.
