Henry Herbert McMillen, Jr., 70, formerly of Woodbridge, VA, passed away peacefully after a very long struggle with Parkinson’s disease, on June 10, 2012, at Raleigh Rehab and Healthcare Center (Kindred) in Raleigh, NC.
He was born on June 20, 1941 to Edna Lawrence McMillen and to the late Henry H. McMillen Sr.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his wife, Alma Lucille Barton McMillen.
He is survived by his mother, of Glen White, WV, his daughter, Cheri Cosentino and husband Tony of Holly Springs, NC, grandson Glenn Cosentino of Sneads Ferry, NC, brother Howard McMillen and wife Eleanor of Orlando, FL, sister-in-law Jean LeVan, sister-in-law Gaye Otey and husband Tom of Statesville, NC, brother-in-law William Barton and wife Aimee of Springfield, VA, 4 nieces and 4 nephews.
Henry was an avid fisherman, whose ideal day was sitting on the bank of a river or lake, fishing pole in hand, from sunrise to sunset. He enjoyed cooking and his white gravy on biscuits was a favorite of his family. His passion for bluegrass and Hank Williams had earned him a number of singing awards. He will be greatly missed, especially by his daughter, who will always be daddy’s little girl.
The family will receive friends and relatives at 4:00 PM on June 12, 2012 at Nicholson’s Funeral Home in Statesville, NC. A service to remember Henry will be held immediately afterwards in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Yadkin Baptist Church Cemetery, Hwy 115 Wilkesboro Hwy, Statesville, NC.
