“Jack” Talbert

Mr. Clifton Eugene Talbert, 79, of Statesville, passed away Friday, June 8, 2012 at the Gordon Hospice House following an extended illness. He was born September 2, 1932 in Iredell County to the late William Watt Talbert and Daisy Mills Talbert.

Mr. Talbert attended Troutman schools and on May 15, 1955 he was happily married for 57 years to Doris Ann Beatty Talbert, who survives. He was a member of Monticello United Methodist Church and was employed with International Paper Uniwood Division as a truck driver and in shipping. Jack was an avid golfer and loved to play often.

In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by a son William “Billy” Howard Talbert on December 15, 1991 along with six brothers, Ross, Glenn, Leonard, Floyd, Calvin and Richard.

In addition to his wife, Doris Ann Beatty Talbert, of the home he is also survived by his brother Blaine Talbert, of Mooresville and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mr. Talbert will be conducted 3:00 PM Monday, June 11, 2012 at Monticello United Methodist Church with Rev. Jill Rhinehart officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends from 1:30 until 3:00 PM Monday, at the Church. The family will also be assembled at their residence.

The family would like to give a special thank you for the loving care from the Gordon Hospice staff.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Monticello United Methodist Church, 308 Island Ford Road, Statesville, NC 28625 or to the Gordon Hospice House and Palliative Care, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
