Carolyn Benfield

Carolyn Tuck Boone Benfield, 82, of Statesville, passed away Monday, Feb. 13, 2012 at the Serenity House in Mooresville.

Mrs. Benfield was born August 18, 1929 in Eggleston, VA and was the daughter of the late Dr. Seab Arnold Tuck, Sr. and Estelle Still Tuck. She was a graduate of Pembroke High School in Pembroke, VA and in 1948 was married to the late Ralph E. Boone, who died July 4, 1976 and later remarried Marion A. Benfield, who died May 24, 1993. She retired in April 1995 from Iredell Memorial Hospital as the secretary for the Pathology and Lab Department. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and enjoyed reading, cross stitching, gardening and volunteering at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Benfield is survived by three sons, Glenn N. Boone (Gloria) of Statesville, Gary D. Boone (Debra) of Johnson City, TN, Roger K. Boone (Anne) of Statesville, four step children, James Benfield, Linda Campbell, Brenda Keisler (Larry), Keith Benfield (Robin) and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012 at Fairview Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Eanes and Rev. Don Horton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Mrs. Benfield grandsons.

    Carolyn worked in my husband’s medical office in Statesville for many years and everyone there loved her very much. Bill and I were saddened to hear of her passing and we are very sorry for your loss.
